Welcome to Foxwood Academy! We're delighted to have you visit our website.

Here, you should find all the information you need, but if you have any specific questions, please don't hesitate to contact us directly at the Academy. For quick assistance, the ‘Help for Everyone’ drop-down menu on the far right provides useful clips and video links. Additionally, the ‘Site Map’ section in the ‘About Us’ menu offers a comprehensive list of everything available on our website.

Foxwood Academy serves children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), as well as their parents and carers. We aim to offer the support and help you need, starting with this website.

Our community at Foxwood is truly remarkable. We have just over 110 students, supported by approximately 60 dedicated staff members. Our students range from 4 to 18 years old. Each student has an Educational Health Care Plan (EHCP) and faces challenges with cognition and learning. Around 75% of our students have an Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC or ASD), while others have sensory and/or physical needs.

At Foxwood, our strong core values guide every decision and action:

  • Education: Every child with special educational needs deserves the highest quality education, provided by the best teachers in the best schools and academies.
  • Independence: We strive to give every child and young person the opportunity to be as independent as possible.
  • Celebration: We believe in fostering happiness and celebrating each child's role in our community.
  • Learning for Life: Foxwood is a stepping-stone to a bright future, where young adults can be happy, healthy, independent, and active members of society.

Thank you for visiting our website. We hope it serves as a helpful resource for you.

Lots of parents and carers contact the Academy and the website to see if our context; or the children and young people that we teach, are similar to their children and young people at home. Peer groups are very important for our children and so this is understandable. The link here will take you to some data that might help.

Our curriculum is rich and varied. Children follow core curriculum, non-core curriculum and a curriculum dedicated to preparing them for adulthood (PFA). We have a specially designed and externally moderated assessment system bespoke to Foxwood that provides clear learning targets for all in all subjects.

We have a thriving Art department and we aim to immerse our children in the arts, sport and culture. We enjoy trips, visits and residentials and aim to produce well rounded young people. Examples and small descriptions of these experiences can be found in the ‘Gallery’ section. We have a goal to provide our children with more access to cultural experiences than their parents and carers ever had.

In our lessons the children learn, remember and apply. They build relationships and resilience and take these with them into their futures. Many barriers that meet our young people in later life can be a result of poor social mobility, lack of employment and smaller peer groups. We do our best to tackle these inconsistencies with every member of our Academy from their first day with us.

Information letters and newsletters can be found by clicking on the ‘Newsletters’ tile. I recommend having a look at our Facebook page or taking a virtual tour where you can see pictures and videos of Foxwood. You can also find useful information on our curriculum and important information about admissions. Our video clips and staff research projects may well help answer questions that you have but didn't get the chance to ask.

Please enjoy the website and do not hesitate to get in touch.

Kind regards
