School Assemblies

Whole school assemblies occur at the end of each term or where there is a specific celebration or whole school activity happening. Sometimes the focus may be achievement, or it may be a special visitor to school

Each phase of school has a weekly gathering:

Monday 9:20am ASSEMBLY (14-19) & KS3 every other week

Friday 2:50pm ASSEMBLY (Primary)

Through the programme of assemblies, students are given the opportunity to participate and share their voice. A positive celebration of student's work and interests, runs alongside the promoting of good values and the community, both inside, and outside of the Academy.

Reading

Contextual learning

Relationships and Sex Education

Humanities

The reading sessions on a Tuesday may focus on an individual’s personal reading or it may be the class are enjoying a book together.

During contextual leaning sessions students learn about celebrating their own identity.  They may be working towards some of their EHCP targets and learning about their EHCP plan.  Much of the learning focusses on character strengths, Zones of Regulation, perspective taking and building resilience.

On Thursdays the relationship and sex education sessions target the needs of the class.  This may be about friendships, about sex, about different types of relationships and how to stay safe. The sessions run alongside the men and women’s RSE sessions and the RSE sessions covered by the curriculum.

On Fridays, our students asked for additional learning in geography, history, culture, politics, religion and philosophy.
