Attendance
Attendance at Foxwood continues to be good and we will work hard to improve attendance further.
The DfE have released a document for Parents and Carers to support improving attendance for your child/children. Click on the link for additional guidance and expectations around attendance in schools.

Our 2024-2025 target is 95%.
The attendance for the year-to-date is: 94%
The attendance for the week 2nd to 6th June is: 96%
At Foxwood Academy, all stakeholders recognise the vital importance of good attendance. Regular attendance not only safeguards our students but supports our core values: Educate, Learning for Life, Celebrate, and Independence. When attendance is poor, it becomes more challenging for our young people to develop the skills they need for their future.
We want every student at Foxwood to feel safe, happy, excited to attend school, and ready to learn. Our aim is to foster a culture where good attendance is understood, valued, and prioritised by all.
We have high expectations for student attendance and aspire for all pupils to attend at least 95% of the time. However, we recognise that students may become unwell, have medical appointments that are difficult to arrange outside of school hours, or experience other challenges that affect their ability to attend. In all cases of absence, we believe it is essential to work closely with students and their families to offer the right support and help remove barriers to regular attendance.
To keep families informed, we provide an attendance update letter at the end of each half term.
Attendance is monitored closely by all staff. When a student’s attendance starts to decline, tutor teams will carry out a wellbeing check and contact families to see how the young person is doing. If attendance drops below 93%, an Attendance Information Letter will be sent home to highlight concerns and outline the potential impact of continued absence.
Should attendance continue to fall, the Phase Leader or ESFLO (Family Liaison Officer) will lead the development of a formal Support Plan. This may involve support from both internal staff and external agencies. At every stage, we are committed to working in partnership with families to ensure the right support is in place, building a strong network around each student to promote and sustain good attendance.
Absence due to illness
If your child is unwell and cannot attend school, please call the school office before 8:30am to give a reason for absence. If there is no reason provided, this will result in an unauthorised absence, and school making contact with parents/carers to safeguard our students.
Medical Appointments
We do ask that medical appointments are made outside of school time. Where this is not possible, we do ask that they are made as early or as late as possible in the school day to ensure that as little learning as possible is missed. If your child has a medical appointment, the letter must be sent to the office so this can be recorded as a medical.
